Shipping

Domestic (United States): USPS Media Mail. Books are wrapped in acid-free tissue and shipped in rigid mailers or boxes. Typical delivery: 5–10 business days.

International: USPS Priority Mail International. All international shipments are insured for the full purchase price.

Handling time: Orders ship within 1–2 business days.

Every book ships with its provenance card tucked inside.

Catastrophic Loss Insurance

Maison Kahn carries inland marine insurance covering our entire inventory — both books in our possession and books sold under our returns policy.

If a book in your possession is completely destroyed — by fire, flood, theft, or any event that renders it a total loss — you are not liable. Our policy covers the replacement value. You notify us, we file the claim.

What's covered: Total loss or destruction from fire, flood, theft, natural disaster, or shipping damage.

What's not covered: Normal wear. Condition changes from reading and handling. Coffee stains, sun fading, shelf wear, dog-eared pages. These are not catastrophes — they're evidence that the book was used. Condition changes are reflected in the return price, not covered by insurance.

Customer cost: $0. Insurance is a cost of doing business. Every book we sell is covered.

If Something Happens

Contact jeff@maisonkahn.com with a description of what happened. We'll need basic documentation — a photo of the damage, a police report in the case of theft, or a reference from your homeowner's or renter's policy if applicable. We handle the rest.
